IOS 14 Home screen widgets

Until now Apple has kept its home screen very static. But finally a vibrant changes has been occurred, apple is now allowing there users to add widgets to their home screen. Home screen widgets are among the most important features that separated features iOS from Android.

Apple has also captured various other features like custom sizes, third-party support, and a gallery with widget previews that Google has already provided in Android Phone.

The App Library

Google’s app drawer shows a list of all the apps on the android phone, regardless of whether they are on the home screen or not. Apple has copied this feature of Android and has named it ‘The App Library’. In iOS 14, Apple users can also hide apps so that they will only be visible in the App Library that is similar with Android Phone.

In Android, the apps are listed in vertical format, but in the App Library of iOS 14, the apps are automatically sorted in different categories.

Third Party Default Email and Browser apps

This feature isn’t completely borrowed from Android but Apple had the idea to do this, but it didn’t as they wanted to go apart but finally in iOS 14, you will be able to choose your default email app and browser instead of using Mail and Safari.

But still the third party apps will have to use Apple’s rendering engine. So it’s not a big change. So the apps must be updated to support this feature. But users will still have to use Apple Music and Apple Maps as default apps.

Discreet View of Siri

In iOS 14, Siri will have a discreet view. By discreet view, it means that Siri will appear with a small icon at the bottom of the screen instead of the whole screen. Results of your query will be shown at the top of the screen. All this is very similar to Google Assistant with a difference that the results appear at the top of the screen with Siri.
